Outlet and Switch Installation

Adding a receptacle or replacing a tired switch looks small until the box, the cable, and the circuit load are in view. M.W. WEBS Electrica installs devices after those pieces are understood, not by guessing from the cover plate.

Who this is for

People who need a receptacle where furniture or equipment now sits, a replacement for a cracked or loose device, or a switch that matches how the room is used.

Typical reasons

  • Extension cords that have become permanent
  • A home office that needs more points on one wall
  • A three-way switch that never quite made sense
  • A kitchen backsplash that will close soon

What the first review covers

Which circuit would feed the new device, whether that circuit has room, and whether the wall can take a new box without a large opening. Replacements still get a look at the box fill and the condition of the conductors.

Special-location devices, such as those near sinks, are scoped with the location in mind. The exact device type is written into the agreement rather than assumed.

Scope and limits

Usually in the conversation

Device, plate, box if needed, and a short cable run from a known circuit. Labeling at the panel when a new circuit is part of the job.

Depends on the wall

Tile, plaster, and exterior walls change time and finish. A new circuit from the panel is a wiring job attached to this one, not a hidden extra.

Cost, process, and preparation

Price follows the number of openings, wall finish, and whether the circuit already exists. Mark the height you want, move furniture, and say if matching plates throughout a room matter to you.

Can you add a USB receptacle?

If the box and circuit allow the device you specify. Bring the model or ask for a listed option in the scope.

Do you install GFCI or AFCI devices?

When the location and the circuit call for that protection. The device type is part of the written plan.

What if the box is too small?

The box may need replacement. That is found during the review, not after the plate is already chosen.

Is a new kitchen island outlet the same job?

Islands and peninsulas often need a different cable path. Describe the furniture so the run can be planned.
