Lighting Installation
Lighting work ranges from swapping a fixture on an existing box to adding a new point that needs cable, a switch, and a finish plan. M.W. WEBS Electrica treats the box, the circuit, and the fixture weight as one problem.
Who this is for
Homeowners and small commercial occupants who want a fixture hung correctly, a porch light that actually lights the steps, or a room that needs another switching point.
Typical requests
- Replacing a dated ceiling fixture
- Adding a dining pendant where only a blank plate exists
- Exterior lanterns or path lighting that need a weather-rated box
- A dimmer that matches the lamp type
What the review checks
Fixture weight, box rating, ceiling height, and whether the existing switch leg can support a dimmer or a second point. Exterior work adds wet-location fittings and a path that does not fight siding or masonry.
Bring the fixture model if you already bought it. If you have not, say the size and the look you want so the box and support can be planned first.
Scope, cost, and preparation
A same-box swap is a different job from a new ceiling opening. Cost follows height, the need for a fan-rated or heavy fixture box, and exterior weather sealing. Prepare the fixture, confirm who supplies it, and clear the floor under the work area.
Landscape lighting systems with transformers and long low-voltage runs can be discussed, but they are not a default package on this page.
Lighting FAQ
Can you install a fixture I already purchased?
Usually, after the box and circuit are checked against that fixture’s weight and wiring.
Do you hang chandeliers?
When the structure and box can take the load. Very large pieces may need extra support that is scoped separately.
Will you choose the bulbs?
Only if you ask for that in the scope. Lamp type still has to match the dimmer and the fixture rating.
Is a ceiling fan a lighting job?
Use ceiling fan installation. A fan-rated box is a different check than a light-only box.
